Granada and its incredible province allow you to enjoy surprising contrasts in terms of climate, due to its rugged orography that takes us from the high mountains in Sierra Nevada to the tropical coast. We move between Mediterranean, continental and subtropical climate.
The important thermal amplitude of even 20-25 º during the day that Granada capital lives, both in winter and in summer, makes that, although in winter it is cold in the morning and at night hovering around 0 º and even with temperatures below zero, allows that in the central hours of the day we can enjoy a winter that gives us a truce as soon as the sun rises. And in summer the heat of the noon however disappears in the mornings and at night to discover the city losing ourselves in its streets. But without a doubt the winters are cold with frost and the summers hot, the rain is very scarce and almost exclusively in winter.

What is the best time to visit Granada?
The best time of year to visit Granada is spring and autumn. The only problem: it is high season.
We recommend you to visit us in winter or in summer, you will discover a different city probably more authentic and you will have everything within your reach.
Are there big differences in the weather depending on where I am? What should I take into account?
The province of Granada touches the Mediterranean in such beautiful villages as Motril, Salobreña or Almuñécar. Our coast is known as the Costa Tropical due to the subtropical microclimate that it enjoys at the foot of the snow-capped mountains of the Sierra Nevada. It is precisely this climate that occurs on the coast of Granada due to the influence of the soft air that reaches our coast from North Africa and the fresh air of our mountains. In winter with minimums of 10º and maximums of 18º arriving in summer at 25º. The subtropical climate makes the coast of Granada a true paradise where avocados, mangos, papayas, cherimoyas, etc. are grown.
Just twenty minutes from Granada capital and a few kilometers from the sea the southern slope of Sierra Nevada we find the region of the Alpujarra with a typical climate of high mountains with very cold winters reaching 10 º below zero and with very mild summers.
Having said that, you should bear in mind that depending on the height and the area you are in, thermal variations can be important. You can always bring an alternative clothing that adapts to the occasion and the place.
