Playa Honda
Playa Honda
Playa Honda belongs to Bartolomé village, the second largest after Arrecife, and it is the place that has the biggest growth in Lanzarote in the last two decades. It also has an important strategic place within Lanzarote: it is the closest village to the airport and the link between the south and the north of the island, so it has become a place for regular shopping and short but continuous overnight stays.
Playa Honda's growth from tourism is more than evident, the hotel offer has been increasing considerably in the last few years, as well as the appearance of a wide range of leisure and restaurant options, most of them gathered in the Deiland shopping centre, one of the best shopping areas in Lanzarote. The biggest beaches of the island are also here in Playa Honda, and through a beautiful avenue links the town with the capital of Lanzarote, Arrecife.
Accommodation at Playa Honda is a good option
The first reason is the closeness to almost all the places of interest on Lanzarote, and the proximity to the capital, Arrecife. It is perfect to disconnect since it is far away from the big touristic centers but perfectly accessible to all of them. In addition, Playa Honda is an area not very crowded by tourism, and there are many " villas "which are small houses perfect to spend a few days and keep you away from the big tourist accommodations.
What can I do in Playa Honda
It is true that Playa Honda is not the tourist epicentre of Lanzarote but it still has its charm. The best thing about Playa Honda is that it is a place reserved for relaxation and tranquillity, with family, friends and/or partners. Although there are no outstanding activities to do in Playa Honda you cannot miss the opportunity to do some shopping in the Deiland shopping centre, walk along the avenue and reach Arrecife, or enjoy the magnificent climate of Lanzarote in the immense beaches, such as in Playa Guacimeta. Although it is not located within Playa Honda, but very close to it in Bartolomé, you cannot miss one of the most interesting places in Lanzarote, Peasant's Museum.
