Required documentation to travel to Lanzarote
Required documents:
1. Personal identity document (Passport)
It can be used as a travel document to enter and circulate in the European Community countries (including the Canary Island). So if you come from another area of Spain or any other European Union country, this document will be useful to get into and travel around the islands.
2. Visa
It is a document that is usually issued by the Spanish Embassy in tourist's home country; it allows you to enter in this country to work, study or just to visit any of its marvellous cities. There are six different types of visas for non-migrant citizens who want to go to the Canaries:
- Transit Visa: Which will allow you to pass through the international traffic area of a Spanish airport or to cross Spanish land.
- Stay Visa: Which will allow you an uninterrupted stay which doesn't exceed 3 months or some successive stays for a period of time that should no exceed 3 months in each semester starting from the entry day in the country.
- Residence Visa: This visa will allow you to reside in Spain, as long as you don't carry out any work or professional activity.
- Work and Residence Visa: This visa allows us to reside in Spain and we can also carry out a work activity, either as an employee or as a freelancer.
- Study Visa: This visa allows you to reside in Spain in order to carry out specific courses or studies. It will also be useful if you are doing a research project.
- Courtesy Visa: This type of visa is only issued to Diplomatic agents, Consular officials and officials working for International Organizations.
3. Driving in Canary Islands
For European Union countries it is enough to have a valid driving license.
For non European Union Countries an international driving licence is required.
