THE WEATHER IN LANZAROTE

Lanzarote is one of the islands belonging to the Canary Archipelago, being the fourth largest in extension. Also known as the Island of the Volcanoes, Lanzarote enjoys a subtropical climate and microclimates around its entire extension due not only to its geolocation but also to the influence of the tides and Alisios winds. These winds, more frequent in the northeast of the island, cause the climate to be soft and not very variable; besides decreasing the sensation of suffocating heat especially in the north of Lanzarote.

As far as rainfall is concerned, it can be said that it is one of the islands that receives less rain throughout the year, limited to a few days between November and January but with low rainfall. This makes the island of volcanoes drier and in some places even desert and arid landscapes.

The average annual temperature ranges from 21ºC to 24ºC, dropping in winter to 17ºC - 19ºC and reaching 27ºC - 29ºC in summer. All this varies slightly some days and in some areas, like the center of the island where the weather is colder than in the coastal areas. This phenomenon is called microclimate: it is possible to enjoy a day walking in Timanfaya National Park with mild temperatures and at the same time be on the beach sunbathing with slightly higher temperatures. On the other hand, it is worth noting that the sea water is warmer in December than in May; but both are good seasons to visit the island and enjoy a magnificent holiday in the Canary Islands.

If you are wondering what to bring in your suitcase, the answer is simple: bring lightweight clothing and some windproof clothing or suitable footwear if you are planning to go for a walk. Lanzarote is an island of possibilities and you can enjoy a magnificent weather 365 days a year.

Are these more than enough reasons to decide to spend your holidays here?
