Roque Nublo Natural Monument
What does the Roque Nublo mean for Gran Canaria?
It is one of the most symbolic places in Gran Canaria.
This monument is about 90 meters high and it is the 2nd highest point of Gran Canaria: both, the Roque Nublo and its surroundings, were recently named Natural Protected Area.
The beauty of this incredible work of nature is so great that many writers and painters have used it as an inspiration.
Likewise, Roque Nublo enjoys the love of its people, as it is considered a pilgrimage point for canarians.
How to get to the Roque Nublo?
There are several ways to get to Roque Nublo, but some of them could take you up to hours. Here we tell you about the quickest one from the main road.
You have just to look for it in your mobile Map and it will take you to the parking where the hike starts. We recommend you to go early in the morning, because lots of people go there and you couldn't find parking!
The hike is only 1.5 km long, about 35 minutes there and 35 minutes back, unless you are with children or elderly people.
Suggestions:
- Water and sunscreen: Being at such a high altitude, you run the risk that the sun's rays will do more harm to your skin. Also, if you aren't used to being at a high altitude, you could feel more tired.
- Wear warm clothes: it is a place located more than 1800 meters above the sea level, it is possible that you will find very low temperatures in winter.
- Comfortable shoes: it is a walk of up to 2 hours, the best thing to do is to wear suitable shoes.
What will I see in Roque Nublo?
The whole journey is an incredible visual and sensorial experience because you will be surrounded by nature wherever you go and you will be able to take many pictures in amazing places. Once at the top of the Roque Nublo you can rest and enjoy a wonderful view from above that as many acquaintances say: ' this is one of those moments that fill your soul with pleasure". In addition, if the day is clear you can observe Teide, the highest point in Spain, located in Tenerife.

Just in front of the parking area there is a souvenir and local food stand where you can calmly have a coffee, cheese and Chorizo of Teror sandwiches, a Clipper soda among other traditional products.
