If we talk about food, Gran Canaria is a place where the price to eat is set by yourself, because there are places for all kinds of pockets. The average price of menus in restaurants is usually around 12-16 euros per person. For those who prefer a cheaper option, there are always the fast food places.
What to eat in Gran Canaria
If there is something that fills any Canarian with pride, it is their cuisine and culture. The Canarian gastronomy is, without a doubt, one of the most outstanding aspects of the Canarian culture, offering a mixture of fresh fish dishes with the flavours of the cereals of the land in a spectacular Gofio escaldado, passing through its Canary Islands goat meat and the mythical and well known Papas Arrugadas con Mojo.
But the Canary Islands have more to offer than these products: you can't miss the wonderful and tasty goat's milk cheeses, the country's olives, the almogrote or the limpets with green mojo; they will certainly leave you wanting more. And the best thing is that these products are available to everyone anywhere on the island: from north to south you can buy Chorizo de Teror, Morcillas, Suspiros de Moya, Queso Frito and dulces de Almendras (we have a long tradition of making these products).
So all you have to worry about is how much money you want to spend to taste the flavour of Gran Canaria, depending on your pocket and the area you are in. That said, you should know that in tourist areas, although the quality is always high wherever you go, the price varies. In the most visited areas the prices are higher, varying between 15 and 20 euros in Agaete, Maspalomas or Las Palmas; and somewhat cheaper in less busy cities and towns such as Valsequillo, Guía, Tejeda or San Mateo, where you can eat very well and local food.
Having said that, we recommend you to always look for the best offers in your holidays so that your pocket does not suffer and you can enjoy the Canarian taste for its gastronomy.
