Tejeda Village
Tejeda Village
That Tejeda is listed as one of the "most beautiful villages in Spain" is not just a common saying, as it is awarded this category in which there are a small number of villages throughout Spain, undoubtedly a luxury for tourists and the inhabitants of Gran Canaria.
Tejeda, is located in one of the highest points of Gran Canaria and has the two most important geographical symbols of the island, the Natural Monument of Roque Nublo and Roque Bentayga. It covers a large part of the centre of the island and borders the municipalities of La Aldea de San Nicolas and Artenara to the east, Valleseco to the north, San Mateo to the west and finally the municipalities of San Bartolomé de Tirajana and Mogán to the south.
Although Tejeda is far away from the main tourist centres of Gran Canaria, it is undoubtedly one of the great attractions for visitors who spend their holidays on the island, as well as for the many residents who spend their days in this fantastic place. Excellent Canarian food, excellent views from the highest points of the island and a unique spot within reach of very few places; in short, a beautiful place that you cannot miss on your holidays in Gran Canaria.
If you are wondering what I can do in Tejeda, you have a lot of variations to spend a nice day. Tejeda is one of the towns with the greatest tradition in the Canary Islands, so you will see and feel the essence of the Canarian people there; it is the best place in Gran Canaria to see the monuments of the Roque Nublo, the Roque Bentayga and even the Teide! They say that the best views of Mount Teide in Tenerife are from Gran Canaria, and they are right to see the sights in Tejeda; visit the famous Cruz de Tejeda and taste the famous Tejeda marzipan; as well as take a walk and get lost in the streets of the town.
Also, if you are in Gran Canaria at the end of January, you can't miss one of the most popular traditional festivals in the Canary Islands, the almond blossom festival. Something unique!
