You cannot go to Fuerteventura without visiting one of the biggest and most spectacular zoos and botanical parks in the Canary Islands: Oasis Park. Its organization as well as the care of the installations and the more than 3000 species of animals that live there, make it special compared to any other zoo, as well as the freedom of the animals in the shows that take place there. No doubt, worth seeing!

Where is Oasis Park?

It is located in the village of La Lajita in south of Fuerteventura in the town of Pájara, 80 kilometres from Corralejo (1 hour by car) and 30 minutes from Morrojable (30 min by car). The zoo offers a free bus service from different areas of the island like Caleta de Fuste, Costa Calma, Jandía, Corralejo, Esquinzo, Tarajalejo and Las Playitas. You no longer have an excuse to enjoy this spectacular zoo!

What makes Oasis Park different?

First of all, it is important to point out that this zoo was different from the beginning, as it was the work of three local citizens from Fuerteventura, with a specific objective: the conservation and well-being of all the animals found there. Another of the main points on which the zoo is based is the total awareness of the importance of education in environmental and animal matters through courses and programs that they teach. 
Last but not least, the Oasis Park reproduces some of the most exotic eco-systems in the world with 250 different species of animals with more than 3000 animals in the almost 800.000 square metres of the park. It also has the biggest camel reserve in Europe, which is unique in the world and can be enjoyed on the island of Fuerteventura.

If it is true that there are no specific recommendations but if you have to take into account some things to enjoy your experience:

• Bring sun cream, a hat or a cap and water: temperatures are usually quite high and it is always good to have something to protect yourself!
• Food: There are several areas within the zoo where you can sit and have a meal, as well as a restaurant if you would like to have lunch directly there.
• Can't feed the animals: This is very important, unless the keepers offer you some food to feed the animals.
